About Me
Hello! I'm Saurav Bhowmick, an energy data scientist based in Offenburg, Germany. I cover the analytics chain from SQL extraction and time-series pipelines through statistical analysis, machine learning forecasting, and dashboards for grid monitoring. I also build and run self-hosted language models and retrieval systems on institute infrastructure.
I hold an MSc in Renewable Energy and Data Engineering from Hochschule Offenburg, focused on energy economics and storage. My research is on power-quality anomaly detection: two peer-reviewed IEEE papers, with a third accepted for IEEE ENERGYCON 2026. I presented this work at IEEE GPECOM 2026 in Naples and IEEE AUPEC 2025 in Brisbane, and I am an Academic Researcher at the Institute for Sustainable Energy Systems.
Before that I spent five years as a software engineer at Volkswagen Group Technology Solutions India, building automation across Germany–India teams, and worked as a data scientist at Grydion in Berlin on energy-data pipelines and grid-stability analysis. I am Secretary of Rotaract Club Freiburg, and I enjoy chess, football, travelling, and reading.
